became the first province created from the Territories. It is one
of Canada's 10 provinces, and is the easternmost of the three Prairie

Due to
its central location Manitoba has a very extreme climate.
With a flat lanscape and large expanses of open water the
area is open to the elements. Its long cold months make it
a favourite for lovers of winter sports and hideaways.
The extreme
southwest has a semi-arid climate and is somewhat drier than
other parts of southern Manitoba. It is very cold and windy
in the winter, summers are generally warm to hot, with low
to moderate humidity
|
|
Other
parts of southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg, offer a humid
continental climate although winters remain bitterly cold,
hence Winnipegs nickname Winterpeg.
